What's Up!

Wow! It has been a while since the last time I spoke to you all. A lot has happened since then and I'll try to bring you all up to speed.

Just when you think everything is going great, something comes out of nowhere to slow you down. (You noticed I said "slow" you down not "stop" you.. First just as we were preparing to finish the Dedae Patrise project we ran out of what little money we had due to some legal business issue which we cleared up. Then we had to generate some more money by taking on some additional jobs (9 to 5's that is... lol) to at least finish the overdubs and start the final mixing. Remember we are funding this company ourselves. We were able to do some guitar overdubs. (Thanx Wesley Wells & Ronnie Rathers) We then started mixing 2 of the songs (at a studio that out of respect I will not name) but I didn't like where the mixes were headed so we stopped for a while. We then found another engineer to mix the project. (What's Up Mark Matson). We mixed 3 more songs but then other unexpected personal bills hit us again, so there went that.(Sorry Mark) Then my mother who has been the pillar of my foundation lost her husband (my stepfather) and is now in a serious bout with cancer herself and needed the help of me and my family (and all of your prayers please!!!) for her to win this battle. So then I had to unexpectedly go to the East coast. I am now in the midst of traveling back and forth between Vegas and the East Coast to spend as much time as I can with my mother.. Many thanx to all my friends and co-workers at Credit One Bank for your help and support through all of this. At this moment it can definitely be too much for a person to bear alone.

So now you know why for the past several months the company (including this web site) has been on hold.

But with every cloud there is a silver lining. On the brighter side, in between trips back east Dedae' and I were invited this week to Las Vegas native and world superstar Ne-Yo's private CD party at "Pure" nightclub at Caesars' Palace in Las Vegas. We were invited by his mom who is a very dear friend of ours. (Did you see her on The Life Styles of the Fabulous on VH1? Not only was it "off the chain" (the party that is...) but it was very inspiring and uplifting at a moment when something like that was definitely needed in my life. "Thanx soooo much Harriet, you are truly one of my dearest friends and Congratulations Ne-Yo on all of your success and stay as humble & sincere as you are".....JSR

Then the very next day the Jazzay' Soul Recording crew also got the opportunity to see and hear presidential candidate Barack Obama. We were about 20 feet away from his podium. His speech was truly informative, promising and inspirational. His presence truly commanded the attention of everyone who was there.(Please everyone get out and vote) Plus we got to hangout with some very good friends ( Michele Johnson, Nikki Logan & B-Soul ....thanx for the sheet in the rain..lol..). So you see this week was truly uplifting and inspiring enough for me, Dedae' & and the Jazzay' Soul staff to get the ball rolling again and update this column. I even saw our saxophonist Keith Martin & his wife Annetta out there on the field. See.. Sen.Obama truly brings people together

Oh! and as far as the Dedae' Patrise Project it is being mixed as we speak. (By Me). Although I wanted someone else's mixing perspective on the songs, money won't allow me the luxury to do that. Soooo, I 'm going to mix it myself and what ever happens ...happens. Hopefully whatever happens won't stay in Vegas. At least the project will finally get completed and released. I feel we can then move on from there. Our tentative release date is now set for February 10th, 2009. (This time 4real...4 real).

Once again we are still excitingly looking forward to 2009 which also promises to again be another stellar year for the music industry as a whole and for Jaz-Zay' Soul Recordings. In addition to Dedae' Patrise you can anticipate releases from Fahrenheit 702, (U-G-R.)Unity-Groove Re-Soul-lution ; a very special JSR Compilation CD" of some fabulous new talent, and some great Jaz-Zay' Soul local instrumentalists. There will also be a number of community events sponsored by JSR and friends that will bring the name of Jaz-Zay Soul Recordings to the forefront of Las Vegas and the music industry.We are looking forward to the continued support from our friends and in welcoming our new friends to the Jaz-Zay Soul Recordings Fan-mily....also continue to send songs to the JSR Lounge we have heard some great music and will be posting them in the Lounge shortly. Again I sincerely than you for your continuous love and support during our very trying start-up period....WE WILL PREVAIL!
